After death, life will begin. Do you know dualism? Dualism means the idea of paired things existing. I mean if there exists good; there exists bad too. There exists light; there exists dark too. Similarly, there exists life; there exists death too.
Life and death are paired things. We cannot separate from each other. Therefore, according to Buddhist philosophy, if I have to answer to your question “What will happen after death when a monk or a Buddhist die?”, life will become again because there is death, there is life soon after death. It is something similar to secular philosophy of dualism.
